Why does the supposed install from Microsoft log itself as Visual C++ instead of Visual Studio Tools for Office? Visual c++ redistribution (for 32-bit and 64-bit) is one part (perhaps even the only one) of the visual studio tools for office (x86). ![]() As of today, Visual Studio 2010 SP1 is now available through Microsoft Update. If you have opted into Microsoft Update and haven’t installed SP1 yet, you will soon have it offered to you. The service pack was initially released in March and includes some often requested feature improvements. ![]() In other words visual studio tools is a package which Contents is varying for each version. The installations are not necessarily identified by name but by their registered components. Rah digga imperial music. MSI log indicates it is missing the 32-bit version of the 2010 tools. Can you show the full error message? Normally applications were looking for dll's and not for installed packages. If that is different with your application it might be an indication that the setup function which failed includes a download msi package of the 'visual studio 2010 tools' itself and expects the package to be located in the installation folder. In other words it could be a wrong assumption of the setup rather than an incomplete installation of the tools package. Actually Boris pointed to the wrong Setup issue in his first post and told you twice to install 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x86 Redistributable' respectively vc_redist_x86.exe. In the download link Boris had posted you could read: The Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications developed with Visual C++ 2010 SP1 on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2010 SP1 installed. This should have solved the issue as well (not necessarily answered your questions). In my opinion you should give him assist points for this.
